The report,, was released on Tuesday by the South African Medical Association, which represents both women and men in the health sector.
The women, who were not authorised to speak to theDaily News, said they were having a difficult time getting aroused with Viagra, as it increases blood flow to the genitals, and can make it hard for men to get a erection.
They said their partners were also worried about their sex life. They said it was the most embarrassing sexual encounter they had ever had.
A spokesman for the women, however, said the men were too embarrassed to discuss their health concerns.
“They are being treated, they are feeling normal and they are just looking forward to having sex again,” the spokesperson said.
“Our women are experiencing a normal sexual relationship, it is a very normal experience and we hope to have a positive impact on their sexual health.
“We have spoken to several women who have discussed their health concerns about Viagra and have told us that this is the most affordable treatment option available for them.
“We have also spoken to three other women who have discussed their concerns about the price of Viagra.
“We understand they may be able to obtain the price for Viagra without compromising their sexual health.”
The women were given a tablet of sildenafil, or the generic Viagra, to be taken before intercourse, or as soon as four hours after taking the tablet. They are now taking the tablets for an additional six months.
The woman said she had not had sex in three months and had been embarrassed to tell the woman about the cost of the tablets.
“I’ve felt embarrassed, I feel ashamed. I feel embarrassed to tell the woman that the price of Viagra is not something I should have to pay. But Viagra is a natural product,” she said.
The men were told they would have to take a tablet of the generic Viagra in the morning, as they were not able to reach sexual intercourse. The woman said she would have to go back to her regular pharmacy.
In the meantime, the men will have to take the tablets with water, a form of the medication.
The women said they had also been having problems with erectile dysfunction, and had been taking Viagra in combination with other medicines for the last three months.
“I’ve been taking a tablet of sildenafil for years and have experienced some side effects,” they said.
“I’ve also taken a tablet of Viagra and have had a few sexual difficulties. It’s very embarrassing to have sex and I feel ashamed to tell my partner I’m taking it.
“I’ve been prescribed the generic Viagra and have had a few more sexual difficulties. I’ve been taking the tablets for an additional six months.”
The spokesperson said the men had been taking the tablets for the last three months.
“We understand the men may be unable to get or keep an erection, but we are taking the tablets with water,” she said.
“We are currently trying to determine the best way for men to improve their sexual health. We are also planning to add a prescription to our existing health plan to cover the cost of the treatment.”
The women said they had been having a difficult time getting aroused with the generic Viagra.
“I am not embarrassed to tell my partner I’m taking the generic Viagra,” the woman said.
“It’s embarrassing and we are trying to help. We are currently taking the tablets for an additional six months.”
The spokesperson said the men were given the tablet of sildenafil to take before intercourse.
